Don’t forget to take some pictures from the top of the panoramic view of the Tatra mountains.

Zakopane ski resorts’ activities

tatras mountains in winter

Zakopane is a premier ski destination, but don’t let that fool you – there are plenty of winter activities for non-skiers to enjoy as well!

If you’re looking for a break from the slopes, there are plenty of options to keep you busy. Try your hand at ice climbing on one of the many frozen waterfalls in the area – it’s a unique and thrilling way to experience the winter beauty of Zakopane.

winter in Poland

Or, rent a snowmobile and explore the snowy wilderness at your own pace. For an authentic Polish experience, check out an oscypek making workshop and learn how to make this traditional smoked cheese.

You can also take a scenic hike or horse-drawn carriage ride through the snow-covered forests to truly immerse yourself in the stunning winter landscapes.

If you’re a fan of ski jumping but prefer to watch from the sidelines, Zakopane is the perfect destination for you!

One of the premier ski jumping destinations in the world, Zakopane is home to a variety of ski jumping competitions throughout the winter season, including the famous Wielka Krokiew competition.

Poland in winter

Watching a ski jumping competition at Wielka Krokiew is a truly unforgettable experience – the thrill of the jump, the sound of the crowd, and the stunning views of the Tatra Mountains all combine to create an atmosphere unlike any other.

And even if you’re not participating in the competition, you can still get in on the action by visiting the ski jumping hills and watching the competitors in action.

When you’re ready to warm up, head to one of the many thermal baths or spas in the region to relax and unwind. My personal favorite are Chocholowskie termy.

No matter what you choose to do, you’ll find that Zakopane has something for everyone during the winter months.
