Hotels I love: Hotel Empress Zoe in Istanbul
For my adventures, I always try to find unique and quirky hotels to stay, such as cave hotels, tree houses, boutique villas with views, museum hotel, etc. That’s why for my stay in Istanbul, I chose Hotel Empress Zoe with its beautiful archaeological garden in the middle of Istanbul’s old town.
What is so unique about it?
Hotel Empress Zoe consists of a few old Turkish townhouses build around ivy-covered ruins of ancient Turkish Baths. It is the only hotel in the old town of Istanbul that has a garden! It is like a tranquil urban oasis in the middle of the tourist district.

Why I love it?
Hotel Empress Zoe was for me a perfect relaxation spot after the whole day of sightseeing and taking pictures π Although, the truth is I couldn’t stop taking pictures there either – just look at this romantic garden setting with its bubbling fountains. It is a real oasis of tranquillity in the bustling city of Istanbul.

The hotel itself It is old and modern at the same time. I love how they incorporated the traditional details into the design, such as Turkish tapestries, antique furniture, and wall paintings. The hotel has 25 rooms, and each of them has its unique feel, so better mention your preference in the reservation.

My favorite spot in the hotel was a terrace on the top from which you could see Marmara Sea, Blue Mosque, and Hagia Sophia. In the afternoon, I used to sit there with a wine glass in one hand and a book in the other.

The staff of Empress Zoe hotel was extremely nice and helpful. My favorite staff member was Bobby, ginger cat that climbed Mateusz’s chair every time he was going to pick something from the breakfast buffet. Yup, I have officially become a cat lady in Istanbul π

Speaking of breakfast, take your time in the morning as there is a vast variety of dishes to try – from egg dishes, salads, homemade granolas, and jams, to fresh fruits and freshly baked muffins.
Last but not least, the location of the hotel is absolute top! Just 5 minutes walk to Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and other main attraction. At night, the surrounding of the hotel is the place to be with all its restaurants and cafes!
